About Us

On South Main Street in Independence, Oregon, Lodge #1950 has been doing what Elks do best: pulling neighbors together, raising money for local causes, and making sure nobody has to walk into a room full of strangers twice. Members have built something genuinely hard to find, a place where the wrestling matches are loud, the murder mystery dinners sell out, and the bartender already knows what you're having.

The lodge runs on community charity, and that's not a slogan. Proceeds from events flow back into Independence and the surrounding Polk County area through scholarships, veterans' programs, and youth activities that the national BPOE has championed for generations. When you join, you're not signing up for a mailing list. You're joining a crew that shows up.

The building itself is honest and unpretentious, a working lodge with pool tables, a full bar, and a stage that has seen everything from local wrestlers to theatrical productions. It's the kind of space that gets better the more you use it, and the 48 members and guests who've reviewed it back that up with a 4.5-star rating.

What We Offer

Lodge #1950 keeps its calendar packed. Live wrestling events draw enthusiastic crowds and have become one of the most talked-about recurring nights in Independence. Charity dinners, including the popular murder mystery dinner theater, mix entertainment with fundraising in a way that keeps people coming back year after year.

Day-to-day, the lodge offers a full-service bar with reasonably priced drinks, pool tables, and regular social nights where members catch up, shoot games, and enjoy live music. Private event rentals are available for members hosting gatherings, making it a flexible venue for the community.

Membership opens the door to all of it, plus access to reciprocal privileges at Elks lodges nationwide, national scholarship programs, and the satisfaction of knowing your dues go somewhere real. New members are welcomed without drama and without pretense.

"Went to the murder mystery charity dinner here, which was actually a play. The play was entertaining, drinks were cheap. The facility itself is a bit run down and looks like it's in need of some repairs and rejuvenating. Dinner was not very good, undercooked baked potato, rubbery green beans, slightly tough and not particularly flavorful tritip roast. Plenty of ways they could produce a better meal and possibly for less money using just a few techniques and tricks. At $50 per ticket it was a bit disappointing but at least it was for a charity."

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
